Benefit Screening
2-1-1 has established two access centers located at the Childs Park YMCA and Daystar Life Center in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Beginning, November 29, 2010 , access centers will be staffed with Benefit and Social Services Coordinators that will help individuals and families access multiple benefits and services of government entities as well as local social service programs such as Florida Kid Care, Child Support Enforcement, Food Stamps, Head Start, Veterans Services, Low Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP), Medicaid, Medicare, Safelink Wireless Florida, and Community Voice Mail.

Food Stamps (SNAPS) - helps low-income individuals and families buy the food they need for good health.
TANF (Cash Assistance) - provides short-term cash benefits to families with children under the age of 18, or under age 19 if full time secondary school students, as well as pregnant women during in their last trimester.
Medicaid - provides medical coverage to low income individuals and families through a variety of eligibility categories. Income and asset limits vary based on the eligibility category.
Medicare - health insurance for people 65 or older, people under 65 with certain disabilities, and people of any age with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant).
Florida KidCare (SCHIP) - health insurance for children from birth through age 18.
Child Support Enforcement - assists parents or caregivers of a child who needs or is owed child support or a parent who is owed unpaid support.
Pinellas County Head Start - federally funded comprehensive child development program that serves low income children from birth to mandatory school age, their families and expectant mothers.
Pinellas County Veterans Services - offers expert guidance in understanding veterans services and programs, developing and presenting veterans claims, filing for veterans claims, and appealing denied claims.
Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) - assists with home heating and cooling expenses.
Safelink Wireless - Lifeline support reduces eligible low-income consumers' monthly charges for basic telephone service.
Assurance Wireless - Lifeline support reduces eligible low-income consumers' monthly charges for basic telephone service.
Social Security - provides funds for retirement, survivor benefits, and disability wages.
Florida WIC - federally funded nutrition program for Women, Infants, and Children. WIC provides the following at no cost: healthy foods, nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding support, and referrals for health care.
Pinellas WorkNet - access to diverse services including job placement and training, temporary cash assistance and special support services such as subsidized childcare and transportation.
